2017年12月12日,来自百年欧洲卫浴品牌Roca创办的全球性设计赛事——“一日设计挑战赛( One Day Design Challenge) ”首次在上海举办。通过限时8小时的头脑风暴,310位参赛选手需要为公共厕所空间设计出一种新的盥洗池和水龙头。

一举夺冠的创意来自于上海交通大学的林静语,施雨纯,李佳卉。他们的设计作品 [Blue Hope Coin Tap] 是“一元硬币水龙头”。水龙头出水前需塞入一枚1元硬币,持续45s的出水时间,超过时间段,系统可发出警报并需要支付1元钱以购买更多出水时间。支付的款项将全部捐献给慈善机构,给急需用水的地区作为水资源建设费用。同时,流线型的盥洗池设计兼顾不同身高,不同年龄段的用户提供更便利的洗手方式。这项设计方案,以节水环保为出发点,大大减少了公共空间的水资源浪费,并且关注到水资源的可持续发展,最终获得了评委们的青睐。

该挑战赛源于巴塞罗那,旨在邀请学生以及30岁以下的年轻设计师参赛,协助他们在设计与建筑领域展翅翱翔。目前,该赛事已经在西班牙巴塞罗那、英国伦敦、葡萄牙里斯本、迪拜、俄罗斯、中国香港成功举办了6年,并已成为了全球重要的展示年轻设计师才华的平台,同时也引导更多的年轻设计师关注与思考当下公共卫生空间的设计命题。据悉,2018年“一日设计挑战赛”将登陆首都北京。

Event | Roca One Day Design Challenge Makes Public Space at Toilets A Better Place

On December 12, 2017, Roca, the European bathroom brand with a century of history, held its global One Day Design Challenge first time in Shanghai. The brainstorming of 8 hours required 310 contestants design a new water basin and tap for public toilets.

The first-place winner is from Lin Jingyu, Shi Yuchun, Li Jiahui of Shanghai Jiaotong University. The Blue Hope Coin Tap is a tap that needs to put in a one-yuan coin to last 45 seconds of water. If one spent time longer than that, the system will give alarm and ask for one more yuan to buy time for water. The money will be donated to charity to be used in water facilities in dry areas. At the same time, the streamlined water basin can be used by customers of various height and age group. The design is based on water saving and eco-friendly, can reduce the waste of water in public space and sustainable-minded, therefore the panel voted for it.

The contest, first held in Barcelona, targets young designers under 30 and students and help them develop in designing and architecture. Now it has been held successfully for 6 years in Barcelona, London, Lisben, Dubai, Russia and Hong Kong respectively, and become an important platform for young designers to show talents, and guide them to think about the design topics of public space. The 2018 Challenge will be held in Beijing.  

On December 20, Li Jinzao, Director of China National Tourism Administration visited Mentougou District of Beijing to investigate the toilet revolution. He said the action should focus on the difficult and pressing issues that people care most. The planning of public toilets shall be scientific, realistic to the local situation, reasonable and pragmatic instead of extravagance. Toilets shall be maintained consistently and contribute to the quality of life.
