有人认为，上完厕所应该将卫生纸直接扔进马桶，随着排泄物冲走，以免污染室内空气。但有人认为卫生纸应该放入垃圾桶里，否则会堵塞马桶。安徽商报实验室邀请国家节水及排灌检验检测中心实验员还原了卫生纸被抽水马桶冲走的整个过程，结果显示，六种不同品质的卫生纸（刀切纸、卷纸、抽纸、湿水不易破的餐巾纸、普通餐巾纸、湿巾）在遇水浸泡后发生了不同的变化。据专家介绍，一些质量较好的纸巾由于加了一定量的“湿强剂”，所以不易破碎。如果长期将这样的纸巾扔进马桶，就可能堵住马桶。 现在很多家庭使用的马桶都是虹吸式的，由于马桶水箱的水较少，因此在冲水时，水在马桶内形不成足够的压力，达不到最佳虹吸效果。另外，由于一些马桶水箱内的水件质量不合格，防水达不到理想的效果，加之有的老旧小区管道设计不合理，所以建议厕纸不要直接扔进马桶中。

Some people believe that toilet papershould be directly thrown into the toilet, along with excreta washed away, so as not to pollute indoor air. While some people think toilet paper should be put in the garbage can, otherwise it will clog the toilet. Anhui Daily laboratory center invited technician of the national water-saving irrigation experiment and inspection to reproduce the entire process of flushing toilet paper into toilet. The results show that six kinds of different quality of toilet paper (rough toilet paper, rolls of toilet paper, facial tissues, napkin that does not break easily with wet water, ordinary napkins, wipes) change after soaking in water. According to experts, some of the better quality paper towel does not easy to break easily with water due to the addition of a certain amount of "wet strength agent". If this kind of paper towel is thrown into the toilet for a long time, it may block the toilet. Nowadays many families use the toilets of siphon type.  However, it can't reach the best siphon effect as there is  less water in the toilet water tank and the water in the toilet can not form enough pressure when flushing.  In addition,  some  parts of the toilet water tank are not qualified and some old residential district pipe design is unreasonable. So it is recommended that toilet paper should not be thrown directly into the toilet.
