People | Jack Sim, founder of World Toilet Organization -“We should spend time on more meaningful things.”

Jack Sim started his business when he was 20, and has had 16 small and medium enterprises 20 years later, in fields including building materials, international school in Australia and others. He holds the opinion that time should be spent on more meaningful things, such as severing people. Therefore, he chose a filed which was always ignored-toilet. Jack Sim founded Singapore Toilet Association in 1988, and then persuaded the government to use 4 million Singapore dollars to support public space such as coffee houses to improve their toilets. What's more, the association pushed to revise building codes, increasing the number of women's cubicles, which eliminates women's line for toilet. In 2001, Jack Sim founded World Toilet Organization and he is the only member in WTO. But now, there are 8 employees and more than 200 member units. Morevoer, WTO hosted the yearly World Toilet Summit. In 2005, Jack Sim founded World Toilet Institute. Till now several thousnds of toilet experts, cleaners and trainers were trained in the institute. From “World Toilet Day” to “Clean India” campaign, many changes about toilet are supported by WTO. Jack Sim said, "We hope that we can transform toilet culture into popular culture in the future.”
